Dr. Haden leads the charge at Haden Eye Center, where a personable and small-town approach to patient care is the heart of our practice. As our resident optometrist, he is dedicated to spending quality time with each patient and creating a professional yet comfortable atmosphere that feels like home. At Haden Eye Center we take pride in community participation and fostering long-lasting relationships with our patients.
Transforming Vision Care in Commerce
Dr. Derek Haden, O.D., is a devoted and accomplished eye care expert at Haden Eye Center. Hailing from Carnesville, Georgia, Dr. Haden initially pursued his passion for biological sciences at the University of Georgia for his undergraduate studies. His educational journey led him to the University of Alabama at Birmingham, where he earned his Doctor of Optometry degree.
During his time in optometry school, Dr. Haden’s commitment to academic excellence and leadership in the field shone through as he served as the Beta Sigma Kappa optometric honor society president. Following graduation, Dr. Haden completed a residency in low vision and blind rehabilitation at the Birmingham VA Medical Center in Alabama.
Since practicing optometry in 2019, he has found immense satisfaction in helping individuals achieve clear vision, with a particular passion for contact lenses. In the upcoming year, he aspires to focus more on fitting specialty and hard contact lenses to treat ocular surface diseases.
Currently a candidate for fellowship with the esteemed American Academy of Optometry, Dr. Haden continuously seeks advanced knowledge and expertise in eye care.
Beyond his professional pursuits, Dr. Haden is happily married to his beautiful wife, Erica, and together, they share their home with two dogs and a cat. The couple enjoys the enriching experiences of travel, exploring new cities, and engaging in outdoor activities like golfing, hiking, and camping.
